Digging Through the Archives: (the last of it)
Wow, this has been a marathon the last couple days trying to get all these pictures posted. I wish I could take the time to talk a little bit more about them and why I like them. You know, provide some context. Unfortunately, I didn't. But maybe I will start now. For instance, indulge me as I post a series of self-portraits. Now, it's already established that I enjoy the self-portrait medium. In fact, it's pretty much the only kind of picture of myself that I like. So these pictures have that going for them, but more importantly, they have the coolest background wallpaper.

We ended up driving up to LA and staying with a kind old lady named Zella. Her house was a treasure trove of old lady-ness. And Kylie got stuck in the bathroom. She had a thriving garden in her backyard though. I think this is the tree of life.

Kylie and I got to visit our friend Brynn and her daughter Eve before we headed out of town. I wish I could see them more often. They just received a new addition to their little family, too. And they had beautiful calalilies outside their apartment building.

Well, we've come to the end of our trip. Kylie and I ate at In-n-Out one last time and stopped off to say farewell to the ocean.

And of course, a couple more self-portraits. But when you're trying to fit two people (and a sunset) in the frame, it's not always so easy.

And that's it for the archives. xoxo

Digging Through the Archives: Part 4.5 (San Diego)
I have to leave pretty soon, so I don't think I'll finish uploading all the pictures from my exciting S(wab) girl trip to sunny SoCal. Plus, there are about 40 pictures to upload, so it's probably good that I'm breaking it up. Do you think you can handle 40 pictures? I sure hope you're not trying to check this out on dial-up. The wait would be painful.
I don't know why I didn't write about this trip when it first happened. Guess I just didn't get around to it. Anyway, this is a trip Kylie, Emily, Emily (haydee), and I took at the end of last February to visit friends in San Diego and LA. Other than Kylie and I missing our flight, the trip was amazingly fun and oh so sunny. I wish I were going there at the end of the month this year, too. Well, without further ado, pictures:

Ok... well, that's the bulk of the pictures (and I left out a few that I was planning on using because there were so many!). The rest are from our adventures in LA. But they'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Digging Through the Archives: Part 3 (South Carolina)
March 2004, before this blog was even in existence, Kellie and I got to travel to South Carolina to do some hands-on research for National Scenic Byways Online. It was hard work. We had to go to all these cool gardens and drive around and take pictures and get paid for it. Man, work sucks sometimes. Most of these pictures can be found on the byways website, along with many, many more. But for the real byways fan, this blog offers something more - a few looks behind the scene. Anyway, there are lots of pictures for this set, so I'm gonna continue it on so it doesn't take up the whole front page. But here are just a few to get you started.

Magnolia Plantation and Gardens

(She didn't really pick the flowers, btw.)

Middleton Place

Charleston

Sullivan's Island

The sad thing about these pictures is that some of them are probably the prettiest pictures I have ever taken, but I had just barely gotten my digital camera, and I didn't realize that I had to change the pixel size, so these are .3 pixels. Yep, they're pretty much full size on the screen. I'm so mad at myself about that. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to go back sometime.

Digging Through the Archives: Part 2 (Williamsburg)
Fair Williamsburg, home of living history and the College of William and Mary. Amanda and I ambled o'er its dusty streets snapping photos of gates, flowers, and of course, ourselves.

(I love hanging out with my sister.)

Digging Through the Archives: Part 1 (Duke)
Before I really got this blog rolling, I went on a couple trips and took photos. I was going through them, paused for a while to reminisce, and thought I would share. Here are some pictures from my trip to visit Amanda almost 2 years ago now. These are from Duke Gardens (which was actually on The Bachelor: Paris the other night).

I was going to post pictures from my trip to Williamsburg with Amanda, but the Internet connection is growing faint. I'm down to two bars, which is not optimal for uploading. Guess the W&M pix will have to wait.
Other archival treasures coming up: Byways trip to South Carolina and S(wab) girl trip to San Diego. Stay tuned.

New Pastures
So I think I've got this ol' life all figured out again. The new plan is to finish up my MA here at Purdue and then get an MS in Historic Preservation. I started looking at programs (briefly) last night, and I'm excited about this new course of action. I like to have plans. Everything feels much more secure that way.
