Saturday Night
I love Saturday night and having the apartment to myself. I'm surrounded by my CDs, which I'm reorganizing (I love to alphabetize!) and searching for French songs for a new mix I'll be making soon for CD Club. Right now I'm listening to Stereolab. It sounds like bubbles popping and I picture it all luminescent. It reminds me of Austria and this one night that I felt so restless that I had to go for a walk. I just took my iPod and walked to a park about a quarter mile down the road and swang on the swings for a while, looking at the moon and slipping on the ice and listening to Stereolab. It was the first time I ever really loved Stereolab.
So I haven't written in a while. I keep meaning to. I've even got photos from the Dears and the Shout Out Louds to post. They're sitting on my desktop. Maybe I will post them tonight.
I'm really just avoiding writing my paper that's five months old. Need to get that done soon! In fact, the plan was to have it done before I leave for Canada (which is Tuesday). Guess I'll work on it tomorrow.
Hmm...This would be why I haven't written in a while. I just find my life rather dull at the moment. I'm stuck waiting for a new part of it to start. Two months from now I'll be in Indiana. I can't even imagine what it will be like. I live in this valley surrounded by mountains. I love coming around the corner in the canyon and seeing the whole valley lying below me. I can't picture flat. I can't picture trees and green. I wonder what kind of architecture there will be. I wonder what people will wear. Will there be extensive meat sections at the store? What kind of music will be playing at restaurants? Which store will I shop at? And then pretty soon, it'll be perfectly familiar. I'll know my way around. I'll give people directions. Will I run into lots of woodcarvers? Maybe I'll take up whittling. I'll sit on my stoop and whittle away at branches. I'll perfect the ball and cage and make long chains. Then I'll give them away to everyone I meet.
Only 6 more weeks of work. I've been thinking of traveling byways to Indiana, but probably not.
I also got my haircut yesterday. I don't really like it. I need it to grow out for a week or two before it works ok. But I'm wearing new dangly earrings that Amanda sent me for graduation. It's perfect because last night at Summerfest, I was totally looking for new earrings.
Updates: Claire is two years old now. Amanda is getting married on August 11th. I found a place to live in Indiana. I sold all my furniture. I started reading a couple different books. I now like playing Settlers of Catan, and I own my own car - no more payments!
Well, have a good Saturday night, everyone.
